EDMONTON – Fire investigators have determined that smokers’ materials caused a fire at a west-end condominium complex early Monday that forced about 400 residents from their homes… So far in 2014, there have been 41 fires related to smokers’s materials, including Monday morning’s fire.

Health and safety issues, an energy audit of the building and establishment of a by-law review committee were among many items discussed at the first meeting of your new board yesterday. Minutes of the meetings will be published in the Owners Only section as they become available.

Meanwhile, the minutes of our 2014 AGM have been posted for your reading pleasure. We are hoping all owners will review them while the meeting is reasonably fresh to mind, and submit any suggested corrections to the board secretary via Box 41. Many thanks to Mary for her diligent work.

Energy Audit: we had two volunteers from the AGM who expressed an interest in spearheading this initiative. If you have expertise or strong interest in this area please let Ric or one of the board members know, or drop a note in Box 41.

By-law Review: one proposed amendment to our by-laws was presented at the annual meeting and other ideas have been circulating. Since any change affects all of us, requires a large majority of support, and involves a fee for filing, we are proposing a complete by-law review before the October Budget Meeting. Anyone wishing to serve on the By-law Review Committee is asked to contact the board as soon as possible.
